About Whiteface Mountain

Whiteface Mountain is a fantastic location to elope; between the gorgeous views and a bountiful history, saying “I Do” to your best friend here is a one-of-a-kind experience. It is located in the High Peaks region of the Adirondack Park and its landscape has been uniquely carved from the last Ice Age, giving your wedding the backdrop of your dreams! Its name comes from the light shade of the rocks native to the High Peak region, as well as the snow that hugs the face of the summit from autumn to the beginning of springtime. This is the perfect place for any couple looking to elope in the mountains, but especially those looking to fulfill a winter-wonderland vibe!

Why Whiteface?

Regardless of which area of the mountain you set up your ceremony, the views will be breathtaking and harmonious with your special day. For those looking to have guests join them, Whiteface has an elevator to scale the mountain, making it accessible to everyone and their grandmother. This is one of the main reason I recommend this location for couples looking to include family; it's really the full package. The location alone will make the photos even more captivating, but it’s also helpful knowing your guests won’t be showing up with pit stains and inhalers to watch you tie the knot!

How To Legally Say “I Do” to Your Dream Partner

Every state is different, but the first step in New York is to obtain a marriage license from your local town clerk's office. This can be done anywhere in the state of NY and costs approximately $40. They do require you to go in person, but who better to join you for date night than your town clerk?!

Some notes to take into consideration before eloping in New York:

There is a 24 hour waiting period between obtaining the license and getting married. The license is only valid for 60 days and there does need to be an officiant and a witness present. The last step is to send your completed NY marriage license to city hall and you will officially be Mr. & Mrs. Happily-Ever-After!

Starting in 2024 there will be a fee to tie the knot at Whiteface. Fees vary based on the day of the week and the amount of guests attending.

If you have any questions about the price change, send me an email at jennaaulabaughphotography@gmail.com and I would be happy to go over it with you. There's still plenty of time to elope at Whiteface this year too!
